It's a fiendishly difficult sport to photograph, this is good - perfect angle and timing. (I have seen a list of recommendations for angles specific to particular swimming strokes, it's somewhere on this site... ) My one quibble is over the processing of the area of water below his face and shoulder, it has a strangely 2-dimensional look on my screen.

No processing done to those areas specifically Moira, all processing was done to the whole image - slight crop & resize, levels adjustment and a bit of noise reduction before saving as a jpeg, all done in Elements 10

Thats a good shot,have done swimming events and its not easy, white balance a nightmare too.

Thanks Rickie, this was only my 3rd attempt at photographing a swimming event, all within the last few weeks. Lighting was very challenging and my camera / lens combination was being pushed to its limits, so overall I'm happy with the number of 'keepers' I got Smile
