Yet another home made contraption Neal .. part grid, part diffuser. I'm essentially working on the idea at the moment so it's still work in progress. The aim being to give me a softer controlled beam of light .. it kind of works but not to the extent I want!

Thats the way to go Dan.

Composition, lighting and model all great, sure one or two will point out the odd stray hairs though not a big deal.

Grid wise I have a lot ! Cardboard again ... and straws from 0.5cm upto around 7cm. I also have a variety which accept gels to create colour casts in shots .. the idea on this one is to diffuse the light after it exits the grid. I'm going to end up with the starship enterprise attached to the 580's Smile

Another good point ... but for me this is what urban portraits are all about. Trying to get it as close as possible at the time .. mainly because there's not point showing someone the art of firing off fast, high impact portraits if they then have to spend 2 hours retouching them.

My recent aims for this type of shoot has been to use the raw processing more than ever to get shots looking good right from the off. Saving time in the workflow and making PS secondary.

one of the best that you've uploaded for a while Dan, makes me wonder what the completed job will look like Wink

Agree with Hanners, one of the best from you for a while. Sounds wrong that but I hope you take it the right way. I love this shot and to be fair if anyone pulls you up on the stray hairs I'll hold 'em down whilst you beat 'em Wink

Love the use of the subway in this and the lighting is excellent, superb processing too yet it doesn't look in any way wrong just looks so good, very professional indeed Dan. I'm very, very impressed.

class again. She's so beautifully placed within that setting again. love the dof... admire the lighting. did something a bit alike recently with a model. was quite happy with the result. but now i feel it just lacks in so many aspects, perhaps light being the major one. Oh well, I'll just roughen it up in PS and tell everyone that's what I was after Wink
