very well taken shot, i know the place from where you have taken the shot, at this place people often try to shoot the Mahal, better place is opposite the Yamuna river, you have said you visited Jaipur, but i must say you have missed Jaisalmir, Rajasthan, a must place to visit, where i believe even the street can give you many precious art images,

i hope you will visit that place in future...

I think the shot works well as a b and w image with the line of black trees leadingup to the white building. The whites are some way short of the end of the histogram though, so in my mod I have lightened them a little to give max imum contrast.

Like Focus Man I have been struggling with the alignment of the building. To my eye it looks as if the base of the building is leaning or bending just a little to the left. I have fiddled with edit>transform>skew but I am not sure whether it has made much of a difference. With this kind of shot the alignment has to be spot on or something will not look quite right to the viewer.

I also cropped a little down the right hand side (and across the top to maintain the aspect ratio) mainly to cut out the building on the right which is intruding into the picture.

I like the shot. so many shots have been taken of this building that it is practically impossible to come up with a fresh perspective.

Best wishes

Quote:Something very strange here, the tops of the towers (Are they called Minarets as well) seem to be horizontal, but the building base is not!
Did you use "Transform" "Distort"? If you did you have to be very careful as such things as you have here can occur. If not, what happened?
Even though this is a bog standard shot, it is one that you have to take, following on from others. As such it is satisfactory apart from what I have mentioned above.

Hi There,

Thanks for the feedback I did not use the transform feature, in fact the Taj was built in a such a away to avoid damage from earth quakes etc, depending on the perspective you view it from it can appear crooked.

You can view more of my images on flickr stream for different perspectives. I was there for 10 days, and due to the extreme heat\humidity and illness could not see as much as I wanted. Nevertheless I would love to visit India again avoiding the bigger cities.

hi ktb, nice shot as cathr says it works well b/w nice converging lines,
although the towers are spot on vertical the horizontal stone work in the forground doesn't look level.
Mod: i have cropped the bottom to remove stonework there, selectively used dodge/burn to enhance the sky and lighten hedge lines water etc: and set dome to vignette then darkened surrounding to give a little more perspective.
hope this is helpful to you.
kind regards
