Taken in Isolation 47

By woolybill1
A fellside pasture beside a path we hadn't walked for at least ten years. This was the very first time I had ever photographed a field of cattle and will quite possibly be the last!

Hearty thanks to Graham for allocating his award to Taken in Isolation 46 and to everyone who voted and commented yesterday. Thanks for looking.

How true! I really do not possess pastoral propensities . . .

A nice mono for your first pastoral scene Bill. The overhanging branches and shadows frame the cattle perfectly.

That has just reminded me. I was not long into photography at school (I guess 1980 or 1981) when a classmate spoke about his father getting a new camera and went to try it out, using a whole 36 exposure film on some cows in a field.

Great composition, arranging the cattle in the sunlight and framing them with the dark woodland. A touch of burning-in?

Here and there, Ian. But far more dodging: the shade beneath the trees was extremely deep.

Much more than a shot of cattle in a field I think. Love the treatment and the messy frame, works really well.

All those cows and only 1 stopped eating to look at you. I like this image Bill. I'm an old farm girl at heart.

I think that having discovered the genre, you should latch onto it and milk it for all the possibilities...

Pleasingly pastoral; love the frame within a frame. 🙂
