Taking the Day Off

By tressypittkerby
A very rainy day in Mousehole, Cornwall. No one was venturing out that day! Colour or black and white?

As Frank says, you really have to use the colour version and since it's colour is its strongest point, I've added a mod. in which I've increased vibrance (quite a bit) and saturation (just a little).
I've also straightened it, using the ruler, which automatically cropped it for me and removed the triangular shadow on the left which I'd been planning to get rid of! I gave it a quick tweak in shadows/highlights too.
As far as it goes, I quite like it. As a "nothing in particular" holiday shot, I reckon it works quite well but I do think that it needs the slightly exaggerated approach.

Hope it's OK.

Bren
Thanks for the help and the mod. I have a lot to learn and posting on here really helps. I wouldn't have thought about the "triangle" until you pointed it out. I think the picture has been improved enormously and I can see exactly what you mean. Thanks for the help. Tress

Colour works best, the the image is not half bad. A good record shop. Mono cod work, but your conversion is not so good - mono usually needs to be strong with penty of contrast and impact - you ned to use the colour mixer and play with the amounts of red, blue and green as well complimentaries that you use to achieve the best effect.

Direct conversions are rarely ideal.
