Tales of the Unexpected

By AngieLatham

One of my most enduring memories of growing up in the 70's was being scared but also facinated by the music and images of the title sequences of 'Tales of the Unexpected' , my first brush with the sereal and supernatural.
The music reminds me of hot, sultry summer nights where I could not sleep because it was still light way after it was time for my bed. I would lie awake and imagine demons and ghosts taking shape in the eerie half-light of the bedroom.Tarot cards, ouiji boards and voodoo were strange and magnetic things to a childs questioning mind and over active imagination. They are repeating the series on Sky TV at the moment so all those memories have come flooding back. This is my own visual interpretation of the music ,which still sends chills down my spine at 35!

Memories ... I remember it well, but I'm not going to watch the repeats as I bet they look very silly and unfrightening now that I'm all grown up.

There's a lot of work gone into this, and a lot of detail to look at, so I'm going to revisit this tonight on a decent monitor at home. It's a bit bright in the office to really appreciate this.

Good work.

A nice interpretation of a memory for me too! I like the title, and the expresion of 'despair' in the model's face. Spot-on

Did you have lots of nightmares as a kid? You sure seem to draw upon quite a large inventory of creative and scary ideas! Well executed as usual too.

LOL Patrick...I s'pose I did, but not anymore than any other child (I don't think!)
My world has always been full of the magical and the supernatural for as long as I can remember. The question is a chiken and egg one....was magic always in me and thats why I was drawn towards it or was it early influences that lead me to become a Witch in later life? There is a saying of 'Once a witch always a witch' basically meaning in every incarnation. I certainly wasen't particularly exposed to the paranormal as a child and my parents are Christians....even I was in the church choir untill about 13. Yet when other kids were asking for birthday parties, I wanted Halloween parties .

I remember seeing things in my room, floating down the stairs (as if out of body) and sitting in the garden feeling like the flowers and trees were more ALIVE than they are meant to be, all before the age of 5. I don't know if thats normal or not!

Thankyou everyone for looking and commenting, great to hear from those of you for whom it brings back memories too Smile

You've outdone yourself again! I keep staring at the large version. The detail is much to see. It makes me want a bigger screen on my computer...something wall size. Smile

Lots going on in this composition, the runes, skulls etc. really add to the supernatural feel. Was the skull in the top right lifted from an early Eagles album cover?
Well thought out and executed - keep 'em coming. Please don't put a hex on me.

Thankyou as always Bob and Bertha Smile I diden't think this would reach 30 so am highly delighted it has!
Thankyou Richard. The skull in the top corner is a photograph I took of a sheeps skull ,which I found during the winter. Everything except the girl and the snake are my own photographs and I try to keep stock use to a bare minimum (if any) Smile

You have given me the answers to a lot of my questions, which I wouldn't have asked. I was right, you are a kindred spirit.
