"Tall Ships - Greenock (2011)"

By RonnieAG
Two images from a visit to the Tall ships at Greenock two days ago. The evening light was rather poor (raining at times), and they are not the best of shots, but I hope those who view them will still enjoy them.

V 1: Prow view of the "Dar Mlodziezy", a Polish 3 masted sailing ship, launched in 1982 in the Gdansk shipyard, and whose home port is Gdynia.
V 2: View west over the James Watt dock with some of the smaller ships and the Titan crane (captured as the light was fading around 9.45pm.......hence the high ISO at 1200)

Details: see EXIF

Many thanks to all who supported the "Red Rose of Lancaster", and special thanks to Ann ("EAS")) for identifying it for me.

Love the composition in v1 best, Ronnie. I never realized, being a landlubber, how many wires, ropes, chains, masts, etc., there were on a ship!

Went to Greenock when I was a wee lad. Was staying at Dunoon and had to catch the ferry from there.
Remember watching the Submarines going to and from their base at Holy loch during our meal times.
Happy days.

I like both, Ronnie as they are so different. Very good considering the light and high iso.
The tall ships have been here to Oslo a few times and they are a magnificent sight under full sail. I also saw them many moons ago in Southampton.

both are well composed shots Ronnie, and captured with good natural colors and detail.

Two great shots Ronnie, especially V1. John very much likes the Tall Ships, he had the chance some years ago of sailing on one as a crew member, and regrets not having done it.

I can hardly wait to see these fine ships in Shetland Ronnie, your images has given me a taste of what's to come. Excellent angle in no1, but when I opened no2 I saw the Swan, a Shetland boat, the green on on the right, she's been restored and takes kids on trips to Norway to learn how to sail. You've captured her in a superb context, great work.

Like both of these Ronnie, but V2 for me and all the busy boats there,
a wow to those
Had to take down my images, but have explained on new ones
I should really have gone here, I've seen a few from the basin at Greenock and they all seemed to buzz with life. Ther's a nice line with the bow here and the busy dock looks great so full of ships and boats again.
