Th elight is great and so is the eyecontact with that fine looking model. The only thing that I can criticize is the little bright spot on the lower right.

Good lighting, and focus. Those eyes really old you in. The eye does get draw to the light patch though.

Are you going to be coaching at the Lightforge studio day on 5th Feb?

snappert - yes I will, are you coming?
Kaybee the green cast is caused by the lighting, but I liked it - it makes it look different to the 'usual' lighting you see on portraits.

I have to be honest and say I am wondering why this was awarded an HC. I do like the strong eye contact and the stance, but there's a distracting light at the bottom right and there's also an unpleasant greeen colour cast as has already been mentioned.

I would of cropped just below the hair but I like it anyway. Gets you away from the norm.

I agree that the light could have been cloned out, but I think the problem goes beyond a small bit of light - apparently many 'ephotoziners' seem to prefer their backgrounds like their pictures ... plain and boring.
Guys, try something new - experiment, otherwize this 'art' of ours is going to end up like 'painting by numbers'!!

I like it as it is, she does look sad though, a hint of a smile may have helped.
