The Tawny Owl (strix aluco)

This lovely Owl is the one that makes the traditional and most widely recognised call of all our native owls.Always a problem for me to decide which one I prefer between this and the Barn Owl. I leave it for you to decide.
My ever grateful thanks for all the c/c's on my last posting-- the Bluebells.

Ron

The trunk and branch provide an excellent framing and perch for the subject, so well captured with that half glance towards your right shoulder.

Owls like the shadows so getting full lighting and a perfect framing perch is a sign of patience, I suspect. Well done. TG

I like all owls, they are such interesting birds. I think the barn owl is a bit more handsome because of his dignified face, but they all have their merits.

We moved to Devon for a quiet life and that's what we now have, with one small exception! These beggars keep us awake all bleedin' night with their cacophony of calls, but because it's so dark here you just can't find them either. I'm sure we had one on the roof the other night though, blasted thing!

As always mate top quality imagery, apologies for not commenting as much as I should but since being down here I'm hardly ever in front of the computer Grin

An exceedingly fine portrait of this beautiful bird Ron, the detail in the plumage is immaculate and I like the natural framing. It sounds like life down on Dartmoor is a real hoot for our mate Ade Osmant!Wink
