Tea by the Sea

By philhemsley
"Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the world earth revolves - slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future."
Thich Nat Hahn

Looking across Meadowsfoot Beach (known locally as Mothecombe Beach) over the Erme estuary towards Muxham Point.

The tea room was built in 1873-1875 by Mr H Mildmay for use during private picnics. It has been built on the foundations of an early lime kiln.

A stitched 5:4 composite made from 6 rotationally panned portrait format exposures, each rendered as pseudo-high dynamic range images (-1.66, 0, +1.66ev equivalents).

Pentax K-x
Pentax 18-55mm SMC/ DAL lens
Hoya circular polarizer
1/90 second (spot-metered at 'zone 7' from the passing clouds)
Exposure Program: Manual

the six pseudo-HDR frames were stitched using Microsoft Research's 'Image Composite Editor'.

Finishing touches in Photoshop CS2 and Lightroom 3
