tea for two... sorry the car is an Austin...

By estonian
getting ready for my second jab tomorrow, needed to tank up Barbara's Citigo...
on my circuitous route home, ventured up to High Beech to be thwarted by the sun deciding to hide despite it being glorious when I oft on my errand...
but driving past the King's Oak spied this, believe it is a pre war Morris...
no sign of the owner so no joy there but believe this vehicle is in the early hot rod type restoration stage...
concluded as the replacement engine as one can see, is something else, no 6 horsepower job...
but have used this as a double frame for the couple enjoying a cuppa, bit of cake and companionship at the King's Oak Cafe...
after all, today is the first day of Bojo's stage 2 of the hoped for end Covid and the road to hoped for normality targetted at Mid-summer's Day...

I do like the way you have composed this. However I do like to see old cars kept as original as possible.

Super lead shot, Richard very well seen and taken. I wonder if the couple are the owners? And a nice set to go with it.
The car is an Austin 7 or 10 I think, but definitely an Austin - there are no car secrets today!
James
James - thanks for the correction and your UA...
confirm the couple are not the owners and did not have the patience to wait for the owner to return as I would have asked to have the car photographed in less busy surroundings...
Richard
just checked with DVLC - Austin manufactured in 1934, petrol and 1798cc...

Lovely set and that old cranking handle. Nasty things to have to use if you don't know how.

Making good use of the car to frame the tea drinkers. Some photographers would have been happy capturing the car, but you decided to go a stage further, hence winning my last UA of the day. Well done!

Good job you did not wait ...I like the backwards facing driver . A certain Mr Bean quality there . Although his Austin was much newer.
Great find Richard,

I suspect that the engine may be original, and that it's only the air cleaners that have been changed: possibly the carburettors as well, but they are underneath the chrome filter housings...
