Tea light twist

By EddieAC
A photo I shot for the macro challenge group themed "Artistic Lights".

My intention here was to cut a five pointed star into a black piece of card which I would fit over the lens and this theoretically should show the flames blending from a normal one all the way to a star in the background.

I also had some glitter card in the background which produced more stars when lit by my flashgun and the red wax of the tea lights had some glitter in them too.

At f/3.8 pretty much the only part of the photo in focus is the burning wick of the first light. (Although to be more acurate the star aperture I cut out and attached to the front of the lens gave an exposure reading of f/5.6. Smile

I remember trying this sort of 'trick' years ago with film; didn't do much as took too long to see the results. Might give this another bash having seen your excellent image!
