Blimey - I turn my back for a bit and there you all are
Thank you all very much!
That's a busy road so every shot I took had something driving through it sadly. That said, I chose this shot as the blue of the vehicle matched the bicycle in the foreground so figured it sort of balanced out!
Tone Mapping is a wonderful tool Ron - I use Photomatix which has had quite a bit of discussion on here in the context of HDR shots. I've yet to master it but it does a cracking job of balancing out a picture like this where the alley was originally a touch on the dark side. I'm working on it

Good morning everyone and thank you again.
I must admit that this was a bit of an "I'm incredibly busy but can't resist uploading tonight image" and it deserves a bit more tweaking.
That's one thing I've yet to master Keith - the noise - on other pictures I've applied noise reduction to both layers which of course results in a more 'painterly' image but I didn't feel like going that route with this one. Heck - it's all part of the learning process and I'll get it all sussed eventually - it's not for want of trying and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!
At least I'm learning not to take any notice of curious people peering at me as I lurk down alleyways, I'm self conscious for about 10 minutes and then don't give a fig!

Thank you again everyone.
Indeed I'm going to work this one over again sometime soon Patrick to see what I can do about the noise. There's plenty of brickwork like this in Tewkesbury and quite a lot of it looks as though a gentle nudge would topple it
The weekend is almost here - I have my bus time-tables at the ready and I'm just hoping for reasonable light and no rain.

Hello again and thank you all
Hey, I might make it into triple figures for the first time with this effort - hint hint
It's amazing what a little nudge in the right direction does Tony - thanks for that nudge! This technique has opened my eyes to so much more than just flowers!
It's hard finding decent locations around my neck of the woods and the blasted day job does rather get in the way of getting out and about. I shall persevere though and see what else I can find over the coming weeks.

Hi Jonny and thanks for taking a look.
I went back to the same spot a while back to try some more shots but sadly they didn't really come out as well. At least it's only a short bus-ride away so I can get back there this year and try again - I'd like some without the gentleman in the frame so maybe I'll succeed one day!
