That feeling

By HobbitDave
Age about 8 or 9, armed with a Robertsons glass jam jar with the white metal lid having holes pierced in it with a skewer. Remember? And a short bamboo stick with a hole in the end, into which the wire ends of a butterfly net were plugged. Off into the field to look for caterpillars and butterflies. You never know, you might see a scarce one if youre lucky. But will it stay long enough for you to have a good look? Sometimes, but often not 🦋

A Brimstone, from August batch, taken 3 days ago.

Many thanks for the clicks and comments on yesterdays upload, and the precious awards. They are much appreciated and very welcomes 🐈

Shot in excellent light, Dave.
And yes, I remember all of that, back in the day's when kids had a 'proper' childhood.

Beautiful image and a beautiful shared memory Dave.

Did you take Liquorice juice with you on the adventure? Made out of hard black liquorice soaked in water and left in the dark? Why in the dark in an old pop bottle I'll never know! I also had matchboxes with holes and caterpillars turning into chrysalis. WinkWink

And the occasional sherbet lemon sweet if we were very lucky, Kath. Liquorice was prolific, yes, the woody sticks to chew on as well as as the black and ‘allsorts’ sweets. Those and ‘refreshers’ - a time warp 😃

The butterfly must hope big birds think the same, Laura. They probably do 🌻

Fabulous capture Dave. I love the memories too. I used to love those woody sticks you could chew on. I’d forgotten about those. Kath has reminded me about soaking liquorice in water too. Happy days. 😉

Take care
