Contrary to my usual B/W preferences, I'm with Tom. The colour softens the image and adds a compassion to this man's face, i felt an empathy. This appears a harsher image - hey it's all in the eye of the beholder, we see different things. Great B/W.

I much prefer this, the colour processing didn't work for me in the previous upload. This disposes of the offending yellow bag very neatly!
He's a fabulous subject, wryly interested in what you are doing, not at all fazed by the camera.

Two images, both very good for different reasons. The colour version is more realistic, it shows
the subject as he is and as his life is. The black and white/monochrome version is an artistic interpretation.
A very good and very effective portrait, makes him look a bit more suspicious and sinister.

I think that had the colour version been a square crop, without the distracting right hand side, then that would have been my choice. However, the use of mono has changed the image to such a degree that that rhs is no longer such a distraction.
So, this version, plus a cropped colour one, please.:)

I think the mono shows off the man much better Somnath, I want to look at him not the surrounding colour in this instance. Not to say I didn't like the colour version, this one is so much more intense and contained for me.
