It is a very pleasing image as is Ju, if you do want to make it more inclusive f8 or f11 perhaps. That young lady is really developing isn't she, what an expression. As ever thank you for sharing.

Adorable! Love Thawr against those red poppies. I am sure someone with some tech knowledge will advise you. I just point my camera most times as no time to adjust settings luckily the camera is better than me at focus. Close ups and landscapes I can fiddle about for ages. Debs

Two fine images of dog and poppies, Ju 😃Think both work well, either focusing on the dog, or the poppies 👍
I think it can be difficult capturing detail in red objects, especially poppies (I don't know why red!), even if carefully focused. When processing the image, if saturation is too high it loses detail - taking down the saturation returns detail to the image, but you lose the beautiful colour. I've yet to find an answer to solving this! 🙁

I think the focus is great Ju.
Thwar is perfectly focused, and both eyes too.
If you had taken the image from a bit further away you would have had more focus on the poppies, but at the distance you are at and f5.6 the background will be very out of focus.
You would get more in focus at say f11 but still you would need to step back a bit I think.
I like the way the lead looks anyway...have a UA!

For front-to-back sharpness, stop the aperture right down (as far towards f/22 as your camera allows) and focus a little past Thawr, but short of the poppies.

If your zoom is at the wide end, that's better. And, finally, raise the ISO to make sure the shutter speed stay reasonably high - with that camera at 40mm, it should be 1/80 as an absolute minimum.

Lovely shot as it is. There are boring technical things you could have done, but it could make you lose the moment.Smile

V1 for me Ju ...captured the essence very well of the scene he was in .
Good reminders from folks on how to have the whole landscape scene in focus.
Best regards
Walt
