The Alley

By paulbroad
Been on holiday again, east coast once more. This is a back alley in Bridlington - behind the hotels. Exposed for highlights as necessary here, 1/800 @ f8 at ISO200 and manual. Some discussion over composition I think. I have my obligatory figure in and it is cropped a little.

EOS 7D with 18/125 OS Sigma. Hand held.

There is a lot of detail here which can be revealed by a shadow/highlight adjustment in Photoshop - see mod.

Arguably, the person could be on a third. (He's not that far from it as it is)
I like your shot as it is Paul. It's a backstreet. What you've produced is a shot of exactly that. There never is much light in a backstreet ~ that's what makes them inherently what they are.
You've captured the atmosphere of the backstreet, as well as the detail, & the exposure appears, to me at least, to be about spot-on.

It might be worth considering cropping a small amount from the base of the shot. (a la mod) (the man on a 1/3)
But I don't think it improves it dramatically
