The Ancient Cadzow Oaks Of Chatelherault - 2.

By Tooma
I edited my lead shot partly in Photo Director, and finished in Affinity, to get the particular look I was after, a sort of painted but sharp finish I felt was sympathetic to the subject, and to feel the love.

V1 I treated for presence, old, strong, and fixed in its place.

V2 shows a close-up of more of the rings. I don't know whether squirrels, some other creature, or kids playing about has jammed the nuts into it.

"The Ancient Cadzow Oaks are located at the High Parks in Chatelherault. Some of the trees are nearly 800 years old; dating them as far back as when King Robert The Bruce Reigned.
The most beautiful and enchanting examples of the oaks can be seen at the Earthwork remains of a Small Prehistoric Promontory Fort which is a short distance away from the √‚¬“Castle In The Wood Of Hamilton√‚¬” (Cadzow Castle).
The trees in this area are what's left of the most ancient surviving oak woodland in Scotland. Tree ring analysis dates them to the 1460√‚¬’s which, roughly corresponds with the date that the Deer Park was created. And, this was a decade after the Old Collegiate Church at the Low Parks was formed.

I like your set of the oak tree. My favourite is V1 of the oak, gnarled and showing its age.
