The Answer...

By Greyheron
Taken about an hour before sunrise yesterday on the Shoebury foreshore - a blue sky dawn…

I had the pleasure of talking to the owner of this vessel a few weeks ago - The Answer was the last boat to be built in Southend by Frank Peter in 1959. Bann has owned The Answer since 1982 and maintains it in very good order, working on the hull when low tide occurs during daylight hours - the patchy marks are where he's rubbed down the worn paintwork on the hull - eventually the whole hull will be repainted and she will look pristine again ready for fishing trips in the Thames Estuary during the coming season…

Quite a few of the boats are missing from the sands at the moment - being repaired/renovated in local boatyards - I'm very much looking forward to their return...

25 super seconds!

I have known myself of fishermen who unfortunately had to give their hand bulit boats for destruction because of a silly legislation that should only punish fishermen who don't use nets but trawlers which wipe out fish regardless of their size...

Perfect shot, bravo.

Another terrific exposure, Mike, in which once again you've managed to capture sufficient detail in the boat and the foreground features to ensure that the pre-dawn lights and their reflections don't overwhelm.
