The Artist

By saltireblue
Greetings Earthlings. I come in peace. Na-Nu Na-Nu!

Norway woke up today to a new government...Hooray, I hear you shouting.
Erna Solberg is no Maggie Thatcher nor an Angela Merkel, but she just might make a good Prime Minister. However, Norway needs an outstanding PM, not a good one...oh, well.Sad

Back to the business of the day.
A street artist going about his trade in the city of York, unaware of the pesky photographer hanging over his shoulder.
I have converted this to b&w (I mention that for the benefit of the colour blind photographers)

Many thanks for all the recent interest in my humble is appreciated.

Thanks for bothering.

I like your composition in this capture. The artists face just peaking into the frame. Makes a great mono conversion. Excellent photography Malc

A fine shot Malc, but not so sure about your news with Erna.
After the mess Maggie made here,it has added weight to my belief that a womans place is in the kitchen.
Even then, there are some women who make a right pigs ear of that too !!
And talking of politics, have you got a spare room ?
If we get independence next year I shall be packing my bags and moving to Norway.
(And sorry, but I cannot give you any money for rent. After working for 42 years and thrown on the scrap heap due to bad health,I am put in the same boat as these lazy b............ that have never worked in their life, and the government seems fit to pay us a pittance in benefits !!)

A familiar sight at the crossroads in York. You were a brave man photographing over his shoulder, Malc - although perhaps not so brave as the people who sit for him!
85mm focal length, a/the classic full frame portrait lens. And my Nikon 85mm is my favourite lens, full stop.
Like Mick, I too heard about Erna this morning. She is unlikely to be a match for Big Aggie from Leith Dockers' Club.
I doubt Big Aggie is much of a politician, but with all the Irn Bru she wouldn't need to be Blush

Excellent b&w, by the way Smile

Politics is a confusing affair Malc, no straight lines as seen here.

Just enough detail in this very nicely rendered b/w image.

Good one Malc but I would have like to see a caricature of yourself.

No you wouldn't, Dan.
I actually have one of these street drawings, done in Strasbourg a few years back. I bring it out to scare the children on Halloween!Grin

Well observed and captured. The subject is a mite too slender to be Big Aggie, but I'm sure that the artist will get his chance to portray her when Mikbee moves to Norway. He might need a bigger pad though!

Great image. Is the new P.M anything like the one in Borgen?

It's a rare delight o watch a sketch artist at work, the crayons or felt tip pens just flow along the lines and suddenly there's a face, seems to appear quite effortlessly.
