The Ascent

By colin
This was taken on Saturday from the top of Arthur's Seat. The flocks of people out for a weekend stroll / hike was a sight to behold. Incidently, this is the easy way up, which I wish I had taken with my wife. Instead we climbed up another hill only to be told that Arthur's Seat was the next hill on the right !! Having always wanted to climb to the top (its only 250m, but it almost killed me), I wasn't going to give up being so near, yet so far - so, after catching our breath and getting our legs back, we eventually made it to the top only to be almost blown off, it was so damned windy!!
Anyway, I can now check Arthur's Seat off my list of things to do.
As always, comments/ critique welcomed.

A cracking view from the top Colin, some nice warm light that you captured.

I love the broad sweep of the landscape in this shot Colin. Reminds me of a trip to Edinburgh in 1976 as well! John

Great view Colin, the lighting looks great with the dark clouds shadowing the foreground. Looks like a good day for it.

Wow, nice view! I spent a while just taking it in. Good light and I like the curve of the coastline. Was it cold as well as windy? It almost looks warm but I know better!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Much appreciated.

Carrot Heid - I didn't give him the opportunity to say 'no', my legs gave way at the top!

Patrick, it was cold, but mainly due to wind chill - bracing would best describe it. At ground level it was pretty nice, as the sun hints at.
