The Avon Bridge Tunnel.

By Tooma
I reworked a version of this shot for a Saturday Shadows offering. The path leading into the tunnel and beyond, runs along the east side of the River Avon which the bridge crosses. The path is a pleasant riverside walk which runs from the Low Parks up to the High Parks and the Avon Gorge in the Chatelherault Hunting Lodge lands.

"The A72 crosses the River Avon on the 'Avon Bridge at the southern entrance to Hamilton. The current bridge was built in 1825 by Thomas Telford as part of his new Carlisle to Glasgow Road. It comprises a single stone arch carrying a two-way road with narrow pavements. Until the opening of the M74 bypass in 1969, this was part of the main road into Glasgow from the south."

Great shadows, but it is the arch---tunnel that I LOVE!

Shooting not from the center makes for a beautiful composition.

With the present situation, it'll be nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel...
