the battle begins

By gazlowe
The Battle of Newstead Abbey
Cannons roar, cavalry charge, the Cavaliers fight the Roundheads in one of the largest English Civil War battle re-enactments this summer. You could smell the camp fires and black powder, see massed blocks of pikemen crash and smash into each other and re-live a time when the Civil was was anything but civil! Women & children ran as the cannons fired then the battallions attacked from either end of the field. The dress, uniforms and all the action made a wonderfully entertaining day

Many thanks to The Sealed Knot English Civil War Re-enactment Society

Thanks to everyone for your votes and comments on this series hope it did not bore you as it lasted a few days Regards Garry
