I shortlisted this for a GEA yesterday, I wanted to come back and see if it still works 24 hours later - it does.
Classic case of find your abstract composition and wait for random humans to wander into it. The proportions between darkness and light are perfect, the figures connect them, and there's that diagonal firmly attached to the top left corner. I'd like to see all of the dog's tail, that was my hesitation, but that's minor. This is about light, composition, timing.
