The Bird Hide

By ketch
Well I had a go at sitting in a bird hide down at Westhay nature reserve - no birds and to be honest I seriously doubt I have the patience to be a birder.

This is a genuine shot through the bird watching slot o fthe hide (you can just see the shelf for resting your bins on (I am assured this is a perfectly legitimate thiing for birders to do).

Technical details:

taken at 1/180 sec on F6.7 and Iso 100 - night to day issues not handled brilliantly. Wanted to make the shot look a little like a THE END screen from the cinema because thats how I saw it.

Over-processed intentionally - as is my want - one day I will return to the idea of a light hand on the helm.

Best shot I've seen from a hide, by several miles. Who needs feathers?
I had a 'frank exchange of opinions' a while back with a site member who opened his attack with 'I build my own hide and sit in it for five hours, that's real photography.' It put me off birds for life. Sorry, maybe I should rephrase that.

Thanks all for you lovely comments - very much appreciated (the birders down at Westhay are quite strange I have to say - god I hope there aren't any listening!!).

An interesting shot and given the wide aperture, I'm amazed at how sharp the image is from f/g to b/g. I like whatever you've done to the original very much. Well done.

An interesting image, agree about the end credits look. Not thought about doing this myself despite spending lots of time in them!
best regards
