The Black Boulder

By Fefe
This is Selwicks Bay, the beach by Flamborough Lighthouse. Hope you like it Smile
Please view large.
Long exposure using a big stopper. Sometimes big stoppers can make your white balance off colour. making it too blue, so I adjusted the white balance to cloudy and then adjusted that by customising it to + red + green to counteract the colour cast. I am sure there is a term for this adjustment in camera but I have forgot what its called BlushTongueTongueWink

Anyhow....great big thank you all for C&C on my last upload and to everyone who gave their UA'sGrinGrinGrinGrin Really appreciated!

Nice composition and colour, Dianne.
Us geologists Wink call 'em, erratics, if it's not a lump of coal.Sad
It's also possible that the material your stopper is made from is influencing the colour shift you're seeing
Longer the exposure, the greater the influence

great primordial feel to it and the black boulder looks like it might come to life any time now

Love the contrast between that black boulder and the rugged face of the cliffs.
I thought a big stopper was something you put in your gob!Blush

Good choice for a long exposure for this location Diane, the softness & smoothness of the water balances well with the foreground rocks & the rugged cliffs. TFS

Really good composition using the boulder as a focal point. I'm pretty sure I've photographed that boulder before too. Smile It stands out so well against the chalk surrounds.

No mistaking this part of the world! I think the shape of the cliffs with their rounded tops are unique to around that area of Yorkshire, if not the whole country. A lovely capture, looks so peaceful and tourist-free 😀 And there's nowt wrong with the colour in this, Diane! 👍
