The Black Place

One of the most striking aspects of the Highlands of Iceland are the expanses of black sand and sand dunes. I was used to black sand beaches such as at Vik but heading inland revealed this otherworldly landscape. It was like being on some kind of science fiction film set. Incredible. This landscape was so captivating that I知 going back there next year.
