The Carrier & The Messenger. (D-Day fly over)

By lifesnapper
Hi all and many thanks indeed for the wonderful response to my holiday friendship images yesterday, I really appreciate it. A special thanks to those who so kindly gave awards, and to Carole (monochrome 2004) for her beautifully worked mod.

Today, before I start my holiday series proper, a section of a photograph that I took yesterday from outside my front door, of one of the many Dakota aircraft that flew over the Medway area to commemorate the D-Day landings.

Thank you once again and all the best to all,

John Smile

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
Remarkable juxtaposition, good timing!

A fine capture, John and a contrast between a plane of war and a bird of peace.
We are a very lucky generation ......... long may our luck hold!

Almost as if the bird is a guardian angel.
The coverage on TV has been most moving.

Exceptional timing.
A terrific image and a well timed shot, excellent photography, John.
Wow what an image over the past few days Iíve been reading some wonderful stories of heroism this particular one was about Flutter one of the Mods top homing pigeons the bird was tasked to deliver
Very important messages and risked feather and wing every time because the Germans had trained Falcons
To kill the birds on sight.
Luckily for Flutter he made it on time and after the war he was awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal .

What a Bird 🐦
