You have tried to portrait the atmosphere of a prison, the darkness, the light of the window on an uneven floor and the cigaratte butt, a perfect scene of a crime thriller, and to me you have succeeded with your minimal approach...
To me a sinister shadow - fear of imprisonment I suppose

The prison comparison is interesting. The basement is only partially below ground level, hence the windows high up. This structure was designed in order to give a raised 'ground floor' level for the main hall, with a grand entrance up an imposing flight of steps and more elevated views over the grounds.
So accommodation (which included work areas and also the housekeeper's private room) is actually much airier and better lit than in many old houses.
I guess I could have called this Windows...
And yes, I deliberately left the cigarette end, and other bits, for atmosphere...

We have a prison called Cellular jail located at Andaman and Nicobar Island, it resembles with that atmosphere, so my first thought came in my mind of that prison, so i really sorry for interpreting like this...
Thanks again, and Somnath don't worry about 'misinterpreting', I'm interested in the background to an image but I'm more interested in people's personal response! With an abstract or detail, it's about what the imagination reads into the pixels.
