Your photos of Oradour show the aftermath of one of the worst war crimes commitesd in France by the Nazi SS in June 1944, I was surprised to see the pictures with no explanation. In short a section of SS Das Reich killed virtually all the inhabitants of the village and destoyed for no apparent reason. The full story can be found here https://www.oradour.info/. SS Das Reich left a trail of destruction and killing behind on their way from southern France to Normandy during June 1944, including some in the neighbourhood where I live.
Unfortunately I have not visited Oradour although we live not too far away.

I have learned about this town from postings on epz and some personal research-- and remain horrified!
Also: I am enjoying seeing this ---?---- museum/memory in color!

and think of that fine tree which would have been a ere seedling so many years ago-----
