The Church at Ittoqqortoormiit

By TheURL
The village was built in 1925 and the area was settled by people relocated from further south on the east coast, together with some families from the west coast. This was done to offer better hunting and living conditions, and to counter sovereignty claims from Norway. The small wooden church is picturesque, and was being repainted inside when I visited.

My thanks to Mike, Mike, Phil and Sangram for their awards for my "This old House" photo. I was very touched by this, and I'm pleased that my efforts and the editing help I received from my EPZ friend across the pond all proved worthwhile. Smile

I imagine everyone has a snowmobile to get around there. A very different way of life. A super image.
