The Circle Line

By TanyaH
Before anyone says it, I know it's not entirely straight (the line of marbles, that is) but YOU trying rolling these flippin' round glass things into submission ... it's like trying to herd cats in a mouse festival!! I nearly resorted to blue-tac, but thought that may show up too much Grin

So I've gone with an organized chaos theme ... deliberately Grin

The word 'lines' was given to me by a friend (she knows who she is) and this is my response to it ... a slightly minimalistic interpretation, admittedly, but hey Smile

I think that little off-centeredness is just right. If it had been perfectly aligned, it wouldn't look as good.
The large marble at the top looks as if it's laughing at your attempts to "roll these flippin' round glass things into submission"Grin.

Oh trust me, it was ... Grin I didn't realize it would be that hard - I should have done, but I didn't.

Thanks for the comments; appreciated.

This is good, shows what you can do with a little imagination, wish I had the same imagination. Look forward to seeing more.

love this interpretation of the word, and love the green colours too works so well. I wonder how it would look upside down, just to be really confusing Grin ohhhh and a little tip to stop the marbles moving, cut a small piece of bubble wrap, burst the bubble and the ridges allow the marbles to sit still and you can't see the bubble wrap Smile

Excellent shot! you are playing with my eyes! The image flip - flops between standing (rather unsteadily) upright on the shadows, and forming a line on the ground. Regards Martin

Is that the newly acquired acrylic background they are sitting on, Tanya?

I bet you were cursing before you finally got this shot, trying not to disturb them!

It is Malc, and thank you for the pointer to it - it's a thing of beauty in its own right (I'm a sad muppet!) Smile A nightmare to balance round things on, but I love it Grin

If it's the Circle Line they should be coloured yellow / orange! Well, it is on the London Underground map.... Wink A great idea and set-up, Tanya, even if your marbles weren't very co-operative! Grin Love it Smile

I've done marbles so agree with you when you say it's like herding cats Grin I'd be interested in how you set this up, is that a mirror and did you use flash or softbox to light it?

Well taken btw Smile

Thank you Smile

It's actually a piece of black acrylic, and I used a light tent and natural light coming in from both above (via a polycarb roof) and from the right ... The lighter 'circle' of light is actually a 28-LED oblong torch, held in one hand while tripping the shutter with a cable release with the other Grin

I'm a simple girl, really ...
