The Coade Stone Lion Looks On

By Jools_jti
The Coade Stone Lion of Westminster Bridge looks on as the 2009 Tour of Britain goes through one of two hairpins on the 92km course. The Coade Stone Lion originally stood atop the Red Lion Brewery on the Thames until 1951, when the brewery was demolished to make way for the Royal Festival Hall It was then moved to stand outside Waterloo station where it stood until 1966, when it was moved to it's present location, at the south end of Westminster Bridge.
