The Colonisers

By LynneJoyce
Over the last two years Betty's Wood on the St Ives estate, Bingley, has been devastated by a disease that meant that most of the trees there (predominantly Larch) had to be felled. This turned it from Betty's Wood to Betty's Wasteland. V's 1 and V15 give you some context here. However nature is a wonderful thing and never wastes an opportunity so this post is devoted to the colonisers that have taken up this opportunity.

You will note from some of the photographs that I did my usual rainmaking trick when out with dog and camera and was subjected to a downpour of biblical proportions. Thank goodness for waterproof clothing! But it did stop for long enough for me to capture some of these beauties. I have never seen so many Foxgloves in one place before.

As ever the exif applies only to the first shot. I chose the opener because not only can you see the flowers, you can see the protective sleeves around the newly planted trees in the background.

Thank you for viewing and I hope that you enjoy some of these images.

Rain improves urban images a lot of the time....the clouds stay invariably 'unburst' whenever I go out!!

v5 and v8 are the standouts this time.
