The Cotton Mill Express

By dtomo68
One taken yesterday as Black 5 45407 with Scottish smoke box number plate from its recent duties in Scotland heads the Popular Northwest railtour The Cotton mill express ,yesterdays run was a revised route due to engineering works and came through Bolton twice .

45407 is seen here attacking the climb to sough in poor weather conditions wind and rain at Turton Tower ,but the sight was out of this world ,you could hear the train at Bromley cross about 1/2 mile away I dont think the people on the bridge expected so much smoke the engine and driver in perfect Harmony.

I had to pinch myself to just check it was still 2008 and not 1968 if only you could smell that smoke

Wow thats what I call a plume of smoke Smile
Great timing love the way the smoke has enthralled the bridge with the people standing either side of it.
Great shot.

I love steam trains, they are a machine that is alive. However this pic reminds me of what a dirty, smelly, polluting form of transport they really were. Andy
