To be honest it would've been nice to see the bloke, I know you were trying to show the craftsmanship, which you've done very well, but it lacks the human element in my opinion. No doubt others will disagree, but it's a good shot all the same.

It's a good shot IMO and focussing on the hands works just fine. In fact a tighter crop may even have been stronger.

Personally I love this just how it is .... it really does show the hands at work ... performing a really skilled work ... a lovely image and i too like how the light falls across! A very well composed and taken image ... nice lcear sharp detail! Well done! Click*

a lovely photo, I think the plate maker's hands are what the photo is about so there is no need to see any more, well done

I like the cropping the way it is. It focuses on the task and makes the viewer fill in the blanks. Less is more and all that.
