Award Shortlist

The Duke

By Mike_Young
Morning everyone,
I was very heartened by the responses to yesterdays Skipper, thanks to all, in particular Carol, Dave, Colleen and Bob for giving their awards. It is great to know that folks are enjoying my images.

Today another small butterfly, The Duke of Burgundy - Hamearis lucina, and one that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. This file has languished on my hard drive for a while, not sure why I've not used it here before.
It is special for two reasons, one is that it is an of image a second brood insect, very unusual for this variety. The other is that it has been chosen for possible inclusion in a calendar.
Hope you enjoy, have a great day Smile

A stunning close up of this beautiful insect, I saw quite a few of these on Thursday morning at my local reserve Prestbury Hill when I met up with a member of flickr
