The Enemy

By ChiliMan
Ok, so I was out in the driveway this evening trying to get shots of a gardenia (Vs 2 and 3). It was in my favourite stage of opening where the centre is still a spirally thing. Which is when I spied…pum pum PUUUMMM (ominous music)…this miserable critter. Bah.

THIS is the fella which beheads my chilli flowers. And leaves holes in petals and leaves all over the place. They’re quite small. This one was about 2cm long. But the damage they do can be annoying, especially when flowers are affected. This fella was a cooperative subject, though. Didn’t move despite me going in really close.

By the way, love the comments in yesterday’s upload. Ta, everyone, and for all the votes too Grin

PS No selective colouring used in the capsicum shots, Ed, although I can see why you thought so. Don't know why my hand turned out so pale! Smile

Yep, you're right about the swirly middle, looks great. So does the critter. You have my sympathies.... the slugs are playing havoc with my strawberries at the moment.

Super set, Andrew. Generous action on your part, allowing the culprit to leave the scene of his crimes!

Did you know your Red Pepper image was the Featured E2 Photo this afternoon?

I just love v1. The colour and detail are just stunning Andrew - but what a greedy little b***er he is! and as for the gardenia - v2 is my fave - the middle looks like a swirl of double cream which you'd get on the top of a delicious chocolate mousse! Yum! Smile

Once you've photographed them, you have developed a relationship of sorts - even some respect for another species. So, glad you let him go. Doesn't look like he bothered the gardenias too much - they look wonderful -I can smell them through the screen.

Your gardenia is gorgeous Andrew, but I can easily see why you chose the enemy as your lead, he is a cute, if destructive, little critter!

Three very good shots, v1 is a beautiful close up, V2 and 3 are - terrific! The centre of the flower looks almost like meringues, or made of china - absolutely beautiful.

They're real pest, but you caught a great close up in v1, and I agree the centre looks very pretty in v2 and v3.
