The first to open

By helenlinda
Early in the evening I noticed that the first of my iris had opened. They are tiny flowers and I always find it amazing that one day there is the tight bud and the next day it has fully opened to reveal all this beauty and colour.
They were from my aunts garden in Blakesley near to Towcester. My Dad grew up there and now there are no longer any members of the Faulkner family there. When I was young we spent part of every summer holiday there. Flowers can be very evocotive, and this one is my annual reminder of those happy times.
Thanks for looking
Helen

This is a beautiful iris and you have caught it well, showing the details in the patterns etc. I think it is a sibirica iris.

Hi Helen, I am an Iris collector, have not seen this one, I love the brown details, especially well photographed--

All that aside, good job making the iris your focal point and the bg blurred-- Not sure how you do that with your camera-- but i do know that it takes some practice and skill!

Flowers are evocative of so many memories, maybe that's why the Victorians had books on the language of flowers. Lovely colors.
