Great image and info, Dave. Wonderfully composed with so much to see.
I didn't realise the the Colosseum was built just seven years prior to the mega eruption of Vesuvious. But I guess that Rome is just far enough away not to have been effected, apart from some volcanic dust of course, but maybe not the earth quakes.
