Its a good shot Alistair. I agree with Frank that its seems a little dull, - and for me thats also partly due to the white balance being off a little which Ive changed in my mod in addition to brightening.

I applied a little noise reduction and sharpening also.

Taking your shots in RAW gives you the ability to change white balance in post processing if it doesnt look right.

A good effort with an 18-200 - a lens not meant to do this kind of thing - even though it says macro in it's name. Needs a little more contrast and a touch more sharpening.

Did you use support - a tripod or monopod. You need to, because I assume you were at 200mm - actually 320mm.

By the way, that's not a Hoverfly - looks like a common house fly or dung fly, but there are hundreds of types.
