Crowds of people taking part in, or perhaps just observing, the annual Fort Walk to St Helens Fort, Isle of Wight. This regular event is unannounced and unofficial, with no actual organisation.
At the lowest tide of the year, the causeway between the shore at St Helens and this nearest to land of the four Solent forts, becomes walkable, or at least paddle-able.
The event has been going on for years, and seems to happen almost spontaneously, with estimates this year of somewhere around 1,000 people taking part on Saturday evening, the most popular time, thanks to the balmy evening, with a few more trying it on Sunday morning and evening low tides.
Grateful thanks for votes, comments and awards on my previous upload (pms sent).
Thanks for looking. Allan
