It's a strange face, but it's the original photo. The clothing is black and the face is quite startling against it.

That's what I see James. She's definitely in full mourning, but there's a really warm character shining through, much less stiff and formal than the other portraits used in the project. I like the fact that she's leaning her face on her hand - it's a useful technique to keep her still for a long exposure, but it gives a less formal feel.
Watch out for that nasty Covid out there in the real world, Moira 😲 Still grey, damp and dismal out there, when will it perk up? ☁☁

We have a lot of inherited old family photos and they never cease to charm. Nice work on this Moira. Lives were hard and I love the honesty in this image. She has fine bone structure and to be fair, if many faces were seen unmade up and hair scraped back, male and female faces easily merge into one gender! Loved the Michael Jackson video where faces merged.
