The Grapes

By chase
In addition to the Lensbaby on loan, I now have a Sweet 35 to play with, also on loan I might add.

Had a try out today as I am determined to get to use this kit on some still life images.
I found the Sweet 35 difficult to use as I attempted to find some kind of focus point with enough light to be effective.
After much fiddling about I came up with this one.
It was always my intention to put a painterly effect on here, added in Topaz Studio 2, plus a hefty texture layer added in Photoshop. I wanted the paint effect to affect the texture layer too, so had to apply that first.

All done with layers and masks.

This probably won't appeal to the masses but, I like the result, one I would print on art paper and hang on my wall.

Thanks for getting here.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.
Janet xx

It certainly appeals to me, in fact, I love it. It's a photo/painting hybrid even though it's untouched by paint! I would love it just as much if nothing was in focus. Such imaginative, creative processing.
Have you decided to stick with Topaz? I thought it was free now, but I see it's not Sad. I guess you used it on my sunflower mod, which is also amazing. Thanks for that.

Thanks Fiona, lots of frames OOF today but...if at first you don't succeed...try a different lens Wink

Yep, it is quite fun to use....carefully and don't work on everything. It was always my intention to use it here though with the subjects on a plain bg. They do still offer a 30 day free trial if you fancied a bash.

Only my layman's opinion, Janet (still-life R not UsWink) but I think the scissors are superfluous and don't add anything. The scene would, in my view, be just as strong without them.

If you want to shoot me, then you'll have to provide your own pistol!Tongue

Lol Malc, I had to have something to focus on, the little screw on the scissors was ideal.
Hard work this Lensbaby stuff but....I will get there .......eventually.
Opinions are always good to hear Smile

Not a fan of the scissors either I'm afraid and personally I would like a bit more in focus, though that is probably just me. Do like the idea and the colours and lighting are beautiful Smile

I really like this one, except the scissors are out of place (appreciate yous needed a focus point), a gnarly corkscrew made from a vine cutting would be more appropriate (perhaps using the spirally bit to focus on?)

I too have a free version of Topaz but don't use it much as it's a bit slow.

For the 'anti scissor brigade', I do have one more...no scissors Wink
James, I never thought of a corkscrew...doh !!!!!....any way, the bottle has a screw top, my excuse and I am sticking to it Wink

Thanks everyone.

Works for me Janet! Love the 'painterly' effect, could live with this hanging on my wall too 😃👍

Thanks all.
Alfie, thanks for taking the time to do a mod, much further than I would have gone but, yes, very rustic.
