The Great Gathering

Yesterday I decided to have a trip to see The Great Gathering in it's last week at York. I thought it might be quiet with the kids back at school, but it wasn't.
I didn't manage to get any photos of all six streaks, this is the best of the individual shots, 60009 Union of South Africa.

A wonderful capture, so shiny...and of course I love the name....I have seen images of this loco on epz crossing bridges and hillsides, never this close...

I love this engine, lovely colour but more that that its design is gorgeous and looks so robust. A fine shot.

You did well to get one with no people in Alan. The only place to get all six was on the turntable and you had to fight your way onto there when I went.
