The Guildhall

By TrevBatWCC
Built in 1761, the historic Guildhall in the heart of Poole's old town is the home of the Borough of Poole's Registration Service. This splendid Grade II listed building, has a wealth of history attached to it. In the past, it has had many uses, including being used as a magistrate's court, temporary parish church, a canteen, a meeting room for American soldiers during the Second World War, a teaching room as well as the town museum.
Many thanks to Colleen and Kate (Irishkate) for their User Awards on my previous upload The King Charles , most appreciated Smile

A beautiful building Trev - a step or two closer would eliminate the keep clear signage and maybe catch top of the spire.

I did ponder over cloning out the the 'keep clear' road markings! Wink Getting closer I would have lost the spire..and I'd no chance of getting all the flagpole in! Wink

Impressive looking building Trev, your wonderful processing has enhanced the details in the brick and stone work.

Very nice shot. Its sibling, the customs house on Poole Quay, is also very photogenic. However I would suggest an early morning visit to get it at its best as it can get very busy.

Two fine shots Trev - the curved sweet of the steps makes for a very impressive entrance and a brick built building is always a joy.

Two very fine shots of this imposing building, Trev: always interesting to read others' comments, esp. Kate's and your response........highlights the difficulties of capturing buildings generally and the compromises one sometimes has to make.
