The Harem

The Harem
Wild Turkeys---
Meleagris gallopave.

I met a huge gathering of turkeys on the road on my way to the post office--- was forced to stop and fortunately had a camera along. After checking out my car, they gathered around me-- At this point I was wondering if I would ever retrieve my car!

This is when the school bus arrived --A lady brought a broom, another came with a rake---shooed the turkeys back to the woods-gathered their children---and I drove away with a collection of images!

Our children are arriving on Wednesday to celebrate Thanksgiving Day--We will enjoy a DOMESTIC TURKEY and the required pumpkin pie--- My next post will likely be next Sunday.......

Thank you all for your interest, interesting comments and wonderful awards for my previous image!

A close encounter, indeed, Jennn!
Does the turkey picked out to be ceremonially pardoned by the president get the choice of either meeting Trump or choosing to be sacrificed?Wink

Good to have managed to capture this tight grouping of the wild turkeys, and I think that had I come across them I might be a tad apprehensive. Good detail, and haven't they arranged themselves perfectly for a shot ?

As interesting as they are, they can be a real danger on the roads. Several of my friends have had their windshield smashed by a turkey flying in from of her car!
