The human factor

By Ericsamson
Steam locomotive 'Omaha' preparing to leave Paignton Station. All that heavy metal and power in the hands of the two people on the footplate: impressive.

Version 1 shows a close up of the tender and Version 2 is just a general shot of the mainline approach to the station.

Many thanks for the very generous and encouraging responses to my last upload - will catch up with voting and messages in the next 24 hours ... ish!

All the best for the remainder of the week, Graham. 😀

Did you mention to the driver that he had a tender behind?

I didn't like to say anything in case there was a pile up. I trust you weren't expecting anything subtle. 🥴

Thank you as always for your delicacy in these matters.

Yours, multi chromatically, Lord Chief Justice Thong. (Departs singing ... altogether now ...🎼... 'Justice Thong at twilight, when delights are low ... ooh er matron and more in the same vein ... )

A great set, Graham. I especially like the straight-on portrait of the driver in his cab, great colours and pose.

Wonderful subject matter, Graham.
Whatever the power, it still takes people power to make it work.

At first I thought this an image portraying the 'Oh no, you've got me bang to rights Guvnor' look on the face of light finger Lenny, having previously releved the railway of eight miles of copper signalling wire had started on some nice shiny brass bits in the cab before noticing our hero with his light gathering box. But, as usual, I was wrong.

Jeeves assures me it is, in fact, Steam Handle Henry, the somewhat slower brother of the intrepid Cyril Joystick.

Henry sporting his prefered attire of oil stained overalls with a smattering of smuts, accentuated by a splash of ( and please read the next with a poor French accent) 'Hint of Oil' the new fragrance for men, ( now back to a poor English accent, keep up !) failed miserably with his attempt to woo Madeline, and lets be frank ( or Bob if you would rather. Actually should a married couple be frank and ernest...or should one be a woman?) it just didn't cut it against the flying suit, white silk scarf and goggles, doused in Boots finest Diesel, of his faster and more flamboyant brother who had managed to get the desirable Madeline behind the Orangery in but a flash. A flash of what I know not, but there has been many a rumour about why Cyrils family name was Joystick.

Thwarted in his desires Henry took to the footplate sighed as he shoveled his Nuts ( Welsh, stoking for the use of) into the fire and resigned himself to blowing his whistle whenever the mood took him. A sad tale, but true.Sad

Well, the mermaids said it was true and therefore it must be! Smile

Regards to Matron,

Bertie
