The Jacobite Crosses Glenfinnan Viaduct

By DicksPics
Taken, hand held, from close to the Glenfinnan Monument after a quick change of lens when I heard the 'toot toot' in the distance!
The Jacobite was on its way back to Fort William from Mallaig.
The images in V2 preceded the image shown in V1.
Many appreciative thanks to all who viewed, voted and commented on my 'Luggage' upload!Smile
And a special thank you to Dave(ugly) and Nezih(nonur) for their coveted user Awards!SmileSmile
Have a good week.
Richard

I was just up there a couple of weeks ago. Saw the tail end of a train go over the viaduct, but no pics of it Sad.
Well captured shots and have to say that I prefer V2. Moira

We were there in June and went on the train. It looks better from where you shot it than from the window of the train. Everyone else had their heads out the window going over the Viaduct!! I prefer Version 2 also.

Was last there in Sept. 2002 and have meant to pay a return visit but have never managed, but I can enjoy the scene vicariously through your photos.
You were there at just the right time too to capture the train........the viaduct without the train in passage is a bit like an open mouth but no wallies present( a Scotisism for dentures)WinkWinkWink.
Love the presentation in V 2, Richard.

As you know I loved the original - I'm suprised you managed so many images
in one crossing! This is now top of my must return list!
Don't think my Canon 450D could handle such a high ISO!

Three for the price of two, good images Richard, I particularly like it when the smoke trails along the tops of the carriages.

Really get the effect of the height of the viaduct in V1 and with the trail of smoke one gets the feel of the movement of the train. "First Class" Richard.Grin

All I know about steam trains is that they are noisy and smell a bit. For me the long trail of smoke has made the shot, nice one.WinkSmile
