The Lads

By BarbaraR
An old photo to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D Day landings.
My Dad's regiment, 2nd Northants Yeomanry just before they set off to fight in Normandy.
The tank regiment was slaughtered, and in August disbanded and the surviving soldiers absorbed into other regiments.
My Dad, a sergeant, got through the war and had a full, good life, making 93 years of age.

So glad your dad was a survivor Barbara.
Such bravery deserves a good life - sadly so many were lost in their youth.

I take my hat off to your courageous father and those who fought with him Barbara, and of course to those who weren't so lucky to get home. A wonderful tribute, and thank you for showing us the photo. Pam
